Meet Erika from The Happy Home Project
Welcome to The Happy Home Project, a place where I share our fixer upper restoration, budget-friendly (and practical) do-it-yourself projects, healthy living, and our small family’s simple life.
My husband, Tony and I, moved into our fixer upper farmhouse style home on three acre land with our two fur pups. We have always enjoyed renovating so we both wanted to find an old, forgotten home with potential charm. By taking on this project, we have learned about the beauty of preserving, enduring, and realizing that it takes time to make a house a home.
I’m a city girl from a town near Detroit, Michigan who married a small town man. Busy living will always be something that’s apart of me, but I always craved a simpler and slower life.
I’m a health enthusiast. I enjoy whole foods and home remedies. Our refrigerator is stocked with a rainbow of colors and our cabinets with essential oils and herbs.
I have a passion for creating dried floral arrangements. Often, I’ve noticed that I find most of my sparks of creativity after stepping back to make a floral arrangement.
My husband and I got married during the midst of the pandemic. 80% of our wedding decor was thrifted or handmade.
I enjoy thrifting for home decor. I believe that you can achieve a modern home without spending money from your savings.
A FEW FUN FACTS
I was homeschooled my entire grade school life and against popular opinion, I am not socially awkward.
I attended college for 6 years and graduated with my Bachelors in Early Childhood Education.
I have two sisters, one older and the other younger, which made me the middle child. I can report that the middle child syndrome is a real thing.
